Structure of vagina
The anterior wall of vagina is 7.5 cm and posterior wall is 10 cm. there are many fold present in the vagina known as rugae which allows to streach and give space during intercourse and at the time of child birth.
The lining of vagina is made of squamous epithelium.
And below squamous epithelium there is another layer of vascular connective tissue.
The mascular layer divided into inner coat and outer coat ,the inner coat is made up of circular finer,(weak) and outer coat made up of strong longitudinal fiber.
Bladder and urethra present infront of the vagina.
Pouch of Douglas (. ) Rectum and perineal body present posteriorly.
Superior side of vagina there is
The pelvic facia (. ) And the ureter (. ) And muscle of pelvic floor situated laterraly of vagina.
Superior part of vagina uterus present
And inferiorly present the external genitalia.
